SPF will host two sessions, “Building the Case for Gender Lens Investing Across Asia” on June 9 and “The Role of Angel Investing in Asia” on June 12.

The annual conference by the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) is the largest meeting of social investors in Asia, bringing together philanthropists, corporations, financial institutions, intermediaries, impact investors, and policymakers as part of larger efforts to encourage stakeholders to work together to accelerate and scale solutions toward society’s pressing challenges.

Sessions hosted by SPF

1) Building the Case for Gender Lens Investing Across Asia
Tuesday June 9, 2020, 15:00 (JST) (GMT+9)

Gender Lens Investing (GLI) is key to the economic development of the region. In light of this, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation has supported and collaborated on a landscape report of gender-lens investment vehicles across Asia Pacific. This work was co-authored by Catalyst at Large, Sagana and SPF, and draws on data from 2019 from both Wharton Social Impact Initiative and Veris Wealth Partners.

This session will take a dive into the key findings of the report which spans both public and private markets vehicles with a gender lens mandate. With further insights from an expert panel of speakers, delegates will explore where capital is moving, into which structured vehicles, and the profile and approach of those vehicles. From SPF's Gender Investment and Innovation Department, Ms. Ayaka Matsuno (Director) and Ms. Natasha Shih (Senior Investment Officer) will participate as speakers.

Join us for this interactive session to discuss the insights from the report and to talk about where investors can collaborate to advance the field. Please click here to participate.

2) The Role of Angel Investing in Asia
Friday June 12, 2020, 15:00 (JST) (GMT+9)

With entrepreneurship rapidly emerging as a pillar of modern economic development, it is more important than ever that capital is deployed to support their growth, particularly for impact enterprises.

The catalyst for this session is the ground-breaking report that SPF has undertaken with Angel Investment Network Indonesia (ANGIN), which examines angel investing in Southeast Asia.

The session will explore best practices for the provision of early stage capital, the benefits of working in syndicates and networks and how to enhance the flow of capital into impact enterprises. During this session, delegates will hear from a range of key actors working within the angel investment ecosystem. From SPF's Gender Investment and Innovation Department, Dr. Lily Yu (Senior Advisor) will participate as a speaker. Please click here to join the session.
