As a fellow Pacific maritime nation, Japan has always had close ties with Pacific island nations. Since the establishment of the Pacific Island Nations Fund in 1989, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, as a private organization, has worked to encourage exchange, foster human resource development, and contribute to regional stability and prosperity. Bridging oceans between the Faroe Islands and Japan
On July 1, 2024, the Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (OPRI-SPF) welcomed H. E.
