In collaboration with Global Leader Program for Social Design and Management of University of Tokyo, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) will cordially invite Dr. Denis Mukwege who has been tirelessly serving for women victimized by sexual violence in Eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Taking advantage of his visit, SPF is going to host a lecture entitled " Sexual Violence and Protection of Women’s Rights under Armed Conflict” on October 3rd as follows. This will be a great opportunity to hear directly from Dr. Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, about tragically prevalent challenges under the contemporary conflicts.
About Dr. Denis Mukwege
A gynecologist at Panzi Hospital where he established in Bukavu, DRC, in 1998. While having treated more than 40000 women who were victims of sexual violence, he is addressing corelation of the sexual violence and armed conflict. Received a number of awards including UN Human Rights Prize in 2008, The Hilary Clinton Award in 2014 and The Sakharov Prize for the Freedom of Thought in 2014.
