“Iran and Women Empowerment: Trends and Prospects”

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) would like to welcome you to a public lecture to be given by H.E. Dr. Masoumeh Ebtekar, Vice President for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. H. E. Dr. Ebtekar was appointed as the first female Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment in 2013.She now serves as Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, vigorously advancing policies for women empowerment in Iran.
Since 2017, SPF and the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs of Iran has conducted collaborative research on women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. The result of their collaborative research, Women, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Empowerment, has been just compiled into a volume. The topics of the lecture by H.E. Dr. Ebtekar include the 40 years of social advancement of women in Iran after the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian government’s efforts to resolve related issues, and the fruit of the collaborative research of SPF and the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs.
As panelists, SPF invites Ms. Kikue Iwata, who is a former Director-General of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and a former Executive Vice President of SHISEIDO Co., Ltd., and Prof. Tomoyo Kazumi of Senshu University, who is an expert on women entrepreneurship in Japan. Their insights shall provide a broader perspective on women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment for discussion.
