The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) is pleased to invite you to a lecture by the incumbent governor of Jakarta, Dr. Anies Baswedan. The lecture will be organized on May 20, 2019, taking the opportunity of his visit to Tokyo to join the Urban 20 Mayors Summit.

Dr. Anies became the governor of Jakarta in October 2017 after he served as the rector of Paramadia University as the youngest president of universities in Indonesia, and then as the Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia under the Joko Widodo administration. The Sasakawa Peace Foundation invited him to Japan in July 2017 and provided an opportunity for delivering his vision to tackle challenges including infrastructural development and poverty eradication. In the coming lecture, Dr. Anies will take a look back on his achievements as governor over the last two years and also give his insights into Indonesian politics including divisive politics and Islamization.

The lecture will provide a valuable opportunity to understand how Jakarta, one of the biggest cities in the world, has been developing and what role the city is going to play. We look forward to welcoming all of you at this seminar. (First 300 applicants)
