Project Outline
With the international order in a state of flux, the need is growing for multifaceted initiatives to sustain and strengthen the breadth and depth of Japan-U.S. relations. This project aims to deepen mutual understanding between the legislatures of Japan and the United States, as well as among political experts in the two countries, by strengthening expertise in U.S. politics and fostering substantive legislative exchange. These efforts include training Japanese political practitioners and researchers through initiatives such as the Congressional Fellowship Program, as well as promoting Japan-U.S. legislative dialogue on selected policy areas. By nurturing trust between the legislatures in both countries that play a key role in policy formation, and strengthening interpersonal networks, the project seeks to build a practical and sustainable platform for Japan-U.S. cooperation.
