Project Outline
As the security landscape in Japan and across Asia continues to evolve, interest is growing in the lessons to be learned from history. Yet knowledge derived from Japan’s wartime experience and the historical record remains insufficiently shared, both domestically and internationally.
Drawing on its experience in supporting the Imphal Peace Museum and publishing The Battles of Imphal and Kohima: Japanese Operations in Northeast India – an English-language volume based on the Senshi Sōsho War History Series –, this project seeks to expand access to historical materials and to promote informed dialogue. Through the translation and publication of historical sources, with a particular emphasis on the Senshi Sōsho, this project seeks to observe multiple perspectives of war history and security in Japan and Southeast Asia, with the aim of advancing mutual understanding through the wider dissemination of historically grounded knowledge and analysis.
