Project Outline
Against a backdrop of increasing concern over developments in the regional security environment and potential shifts in the world order, there is a need for debate on preventing crisis escalation in the Taiwan Strait and the associated issue of deterrence, as well as the wider impacts on the world order and the regional security implications for Japan in the event of such a crisis, including potential responses by Japan.
This project uses collaborative research with think tanks in the region to generate objectively balanced policy proposals for policymakers in Japan and the wider international community, with the overall aim of promoting understanding of these issues.
