Project Outline
Under the new geographic concept of the “Indo-Pacific,” countries in the region including Japan, the U.S., Australia, India, and ASEAN nations are strategically forming security partnerships and taking active policy measures. The EU and European powers such as the UK and France have also accelerated regional engagement in this region, an area that continues to experience rapid economic growth alongside an increasingly murky political outlook. Development of security initiatives like QUAD and AUKUS would add profound impact to shape the balance of power. However, to secure the Indo-Pacific free and open as desired, there remains the need for more consultation among the countries to understand each interests and constraints, to align policies, and to enhance the level of commitments.
Thus, this project seeks to support work toward maintaining the order and stability of the Indo-Pacific region by hosting a track-two policy dialogue among key Asian and European countries to further collaboration. In addition, the project will produce and publish English-language publications on the strategic trends in the Indo-Pacific region.
