Project Outline
In recent years, the strategic significance of Okinawa, particularly the Nansei Islands, has been increasing, underscoring the need to establish awareness of the international situation surrounding Japan to better inform public opinion. However, due to historical context in Okinawa, military-oriented security research and education have not been actively pursued in the prefecture. Educating and nurturing local younger generations with an aptitude for security discourse and leadership in related fields is a critical step toward Okinawa’s continuing development as a joint effort engaging mainland Japan.
To support the cultivation of these future leaders who are well versed in security affairs in the region, this project provides training programs, and also hosts local security themed seminars to inform the future leaders and keep them up-to-date regarding international affairs and security.
