Project Outline
The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, which emphasizes women’s participation across the spectrum from conflict prevention to peacebuilding and sustaining peace, has been gaining importance globally. While more than 110 countries have formulated National Action Plans, many still face challenges due to insufficient budgets and implementation frameworks. From this perspective, the engagement of parliamentarians—who can play roles in budget formulation, monitoring government policy implementation, and reflecting the needs of conflict-affected communities—is crucial.
Building on the outcomes of the foundation’s efforts since FY2022 to support inter-parliamentary policy dialogue on the WPS agenda in Japan and other Asian countries, this project aims to foster women parliamentarians committed to advancing WPS and to strengthen international networks among them, thereby contributing to medium- to long-term security policy.
