Project Outline
At a time of significant transformation in the international order, it has become increasingly important to objectively and calmly understand and analyze changes in the United States, Japan’s only treaty ally, as well as the impact of international developments on Japan–U.S. relations and the alliance. It is also essential to examine the challenges that must be addressed over the medium – to - long term, and to disseminate these insights widely to society through effective communication.
In this context, this project, in collaboration with policy researchers and experts in Japan and the United States, advances research on key themes including changes in the United States, Japan–U.S. relations in the post-Ukraine diplomatic and security environment, and the evolving international order and the roles of Japan and the United States. By widely disseminating its findings, the project aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the United States, enhanced awareness of urgent foreign and security policy issues, and more substantive policy discussions.
