Project Outline
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Israel–Palestine conflict, and the emergence of a second Trump administration, relations between the United States and the rest of the world, as well as Japan–U.S. relations, are entering a period of historic change and transformation.
In this context, this project aims to build, strengthen, and sustain networks among U.S. and Japanese policy experts and institutions. By fostering a mutual understanding of current conditions and ongoing changes, it seeks to enable more candid discussions of the challenges facing the Japan–U.S. alliance, free from conventional assumptions.
