Creating Strategic Network Between Japanese and American Policy Communities
FY2021

Year | Second year of a three-year project |
Program Type | Self Operated |
Budget | 89,000,000 yen |
Project Outline
This project builds on the outcome of the Japan-U.S. Opinion Leader Exchange program, which has been carried out in four phases since FY 2008. The project focuses on expanding and strengthening network between Japanese and American individuals and organizations in the policy community by employing a multi-faceted approach including invitation programs, dispatch to the U.S. programs, and organization-level cooperation. Through these approaches and activities, we aim to establish a closer network of experts and institutions between Japan and the United States that leads to understanding of “changes in the United States,” “Japan-U.S. relations in a diversifying diplomatic and security environment,” and “the changing international order and the roles of Japan and the United States,” as well as to the ideas regarding new partnerships and collaboration between the two countries in a shifting world.
