This project provides Asian American state legislators with a weeklong trip to Japan, to deepen their interest in and understanding of Japan and Japan–U.S. relations. The project encourages those legislators to promote an understanding about Japan and to strengthen Japan–U.S. relations at a broader level across the United States.
It also aims to provide an opportunity for Japanese leaders to learn regarding the historical background of Asian Americans and to deepen their understanding of the diverse nature of American society and politics.
