Project Outline
While Cambodia has recently experienced a pronounced increase in new domestic businesses, the vast majority of these are unregistered, with around 70% being small businesses run by women. Despite the clear need to provide support to women entrepreneurs in areas such as registering a business, procuring funding, and planning expansion, less than 20% of the relevant organizations provide support for entrepreneurs from a gender perspective. The situation is particularly dire in rural areas, where support services for women entrepreneurs are scarce.
This project seeks to build an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem to support the small and medium businesses that represent the driving force of the Cambodian economy. This ecosystem will ensure that any person can get access to funding and support, irrespective of personal factors such as gender, location, background, or size of business. This will enable small businesses to grow and expand, in turn making a positive contribution to overall economic growth and social stability.
