Asia Women Impact Fund (AWIF) Implementation Project

FY2022

Implementing Agency  Sasakawa Peace Foundation
Partner(s) Brightlight, Equileap, Asian Venture Philanthropy Network(AVPN)
Year Second year of a three-year project
Project Type Self Operated
Budget 40,000,000 yen

Project Outline

This project supports operation of the Asia Women Impact Fund (AWIF), which is the SPF initiative to invest up to USD 100 million to promote gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. AWIF aims to provide evidence that gender lens investing can achieve the double bottom line where sustainable financial returns and positive social impact are created through AWIF investments, which should encourage more capital toward gender lens investing. In addition to managing AWIF investments, this project aims to contribute to build the field of Gender Lens Investing (GLI) by sharing experience and knowledge as GLI practitioner in Asia. The project also supports the AWIF to manage and measure its impact by setting a clear impact framework and collecting data, which encourage greater adoption of Gender Lens Investing (GLI) strategies by Asian investors.
