Project Outline
As we approach the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin Earthquake in Japan and the 50th anniversary of the Tangshan Earthquake in China, this project seeks to strengthen collaboration between the two countries in the area of disaster management. While the momentum of social-impact collaboration has slowed in recent years, due in no small part to the pandemic, disaster management nevertheless remains an issue of great importance for both countries in terms of the implications for social advancement and improvement of people's welfare. The Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund has already provided funding for a number of disaster management training and expert exchange programs. This project seeks to build on the established goodwill between Japan and China through further collaboration on disaster management, specifically through networking of experts and sharing of knowledge and insights.
