Promote Understanding and Dialogue Between the Middle East and Japan
FY2025
Implementing Agency | Sasakawa Peace Foundation |

Year | First year of a three-year project |
Project Type | Self Operated |
Budget | 18,000,000 yen |
Project Outline
The widening conflict in the Middle East has a direct impact on global peace, yet Japan’s involvement is limited in nature. Domestic reporting on the Middle East tends to be biased amid a general decline in the number of young up-and-coming scholars in this field. In response, SPF is committed to fostering closer relations between Japan and the Middle East by utilizing our dedicated networks and pursuing direct dialogue with groups and organizations in the Middle East that the Japanese government may find challenging to reach. To this end, the project seeks to contribute to peace and stability in the region by setting up opportunities for dialogue with key figures; providing information and updates to experts and media outlets; and fostering the next generation of scholars.
