Project Outline
In an increasingly globalized world, international supply chains have grown in complexity, causing concern that corporate activities may have a negative impact on human rights issues across international borders. Further complicating the situation, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed working environments around the world, putting the onus on companies to make greater efforts toward responsible business practices. In light of these concerns, this project aims to collaborate with experts and organizations to encourage greater corporate responsibility to Japanese companies and their supply chains, while also creating a support system to assist victims and mitigate the negative impacts on human rights. Activities include information sharing, research, and conferences for the sake of strengthening of grievance mechanisms, as well as conducting surveys into the potential human rights risks of corporate activities in Southeast Asia.
