Project Outline
Throughout Asia, journalism is at a crossroads. News organizations continue to face mounting political pressure and traditional media are losing their readership, which results in financial difficulties. Furthermore, most news organizations in Asia use western wire services for their international reporting, which often leads to a lack of local or regional viewpoints. Within this context, this project seeks to build networks between media organizations in Southeast Asia and Japan, and support collaboration in joint research and reporting on transnational issues to strengthen inter-regional reporting based on their original perspectives in Asia.
