Academic/Professional Background

A native of Venice, Fabrizio Bozzato pursued his academic career in political studies, earning a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Milan in 2005, followed by a Graduate Diploma and an MA in International Relations from the University of Tasmania. In 2017, he completed his PhD in Political Science at Tamkang University in Taipei.

Dr. Bozzato has held various academic and research positions throughout his career, including, since 2019, as a Research Fellow at the Research Center for Cooperation with Eurasia, the Mediterranean, and Sub-Saharan Africa (CEMAS) at Sapienza University of Rome.

In November 2020, Dr. Bozzato joined Ocean Policy Research Institute of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation in Tokyo, Japan, as a Senior Research Fellow. In July 2024, he was appointed Director of the Division of Ocean Vision and Action at the same institute, where he continues to contribute to global maritime policy development and ocean sustainability.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Bozzato is actively engaged in diplomacy. Since 2019, he has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (non-resident) of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Republic of Nauru, and, since March 2025, also to the Federated States of Micronesia. In October 2023, he was invested as a Knight of Magistral Grace in the Sovereign Order of Malta. Previously, in 2021, he was awarded the Order of the Star of Italy.
