Academic/Professional Background
Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1969 and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
He joined the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 1997, after working in IT company and Japanese Embassy in Micronesia.
In the first half of his career at JICA, he was involved in donor coordination at OECD and regional/country-level aid meetings, as well as in initiatives related to local governance, urban transport, and SME development in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste.
Following assignments in JICA President office and a secondment to Mie University, he has spent the past decade focusing on supporting Japan’s domestic globalization and international engagement. His work has included youth development and study abroad programs, support for overseas expansion of SMEs and NPOs, international understanding education, and initiatives to promote multicultural coexistence and the acceptance of foreign nationals in Japan.
Since April 2025, he has been working at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Waseda University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of London. He is also a certified Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultant, registered with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
