Establishment of the Sasakawa Program Fund

The SPF has combined part of special assets to establish the Sasakawa Program Fund (approx. 62.3 billion yen in total), so as to streamline asset management and distribute limited investment yields to public interest projects effectively.
More specifically, SFP's region-specific Special Funds (Sasakawa Pacific Island Nations Fund, Sasakawa Japan-China Friendship Fund, Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund and Sasakawa Pan Asia Fund), Ocean Policy Research Fund, Global Frontier Fund, Sasakawa Middle East Islam Program Fund and India Exchange Program Fund are integrated and operated as the Sasakawa Program Fund.

Departments taking over the operations of each of the Special Funds

The region-specific funds have been partially realigned upon the establishment of the Sasakawa Program Fund. Operations handled by the Special Funds (Sasakawa Pacific Island Nations Fund, Sasakawa Japan - China Friendship Fund, Sasakawa Middle East Islam Fund and Sasakawa Pan Asia Fund) will be handed over to the following departments:

Projects that are in place since before July 1, 2017, and deemed to be in line with the objectives of other departments, are to be handled by the respective departments.

Islam Fund program

To be handled by the Middle East and Islam Program Department
