Tokikunike, the house of the noble Tokikuni family on the Noto Peninsula, once boasted a vast, high roof. Although it was once thought that the family ran an ocean shipping business from the site, it is now believed the structure was built simply so the family could enjoy the view of the sea. Founded on land, the building was later extended to link it with the sea, creating a perfect site for admiring the beauty of the ocean.
