Oceans and Coasts at Rio+10 was held at UNESCO HQ in Paris last December and the WSSD (World Summit on Sustainable Development) will be convened at Johannesburg, South Africa on August 2002. The verification of the compliance and the international movement towards effective implementation of Agenda 21 adopted by the Earth Summit (Rio de Janeiro, 1992) is to be discussed. But related activities in Japan seem not so progressive despite the importance of the Sustainable Development of the ocean and coast.
