							Present Situation and Management of Tuna Resources

Professor, Advanced Research Center, Tokyo University of Marine Science & TechnologyConsumption of tuna is increasing worldwide on the one hand and on the other the worry about the exhausting of tuna resources in near future is expanding. Tuna regional fisheries management organizations like International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas decided the reduction in the catch quota for tuna. This article introduces actual situation surrounding tuna and considers problems confronting tuna resources and measures for sustainable use of it. - 
					
							The Development and Popularization of a Super Eco-Ship for Re-Vitalizing Domestic Coastal Shipping

							Although domestic coastal shipping plays an essential role in underpinning the Japanese economy, carrying 80% of the basic materials used in domestic industry (steel, petroleum products, cement, etc.), it also faces many new challenges. This article introduces current work on the development and popularization of a new generation of coasting vessels, "Super Eco-Ship", intended to answer many of these challenges and re-vitalize domestic coastal shipping.
