The Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host a workshop as part of a project titled “Policy Framework for Refugee Acceptance and the Role of Japan”, to coincide with the arrival of the fourth group of refugees from the Thai camp under the Resettlement Pilot Program of the Japanese government.
Since 2011, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation has conducted surveys on the ‘Living Conditions and Needs of Refugees from Asia’, the ‘Status and Problems regarding Resettlement of Indochinese Refugees in Japan’ and ‘Hosting Policy of Refugees by Scandinavian Countries’. Based on the findings from the surveys and a series of roundtable discussions with various stakeholders, a number of interim proposals have been made.
In the workshop, our research team will present their survey results and interim proposals and take part in a panel discussion with practitioners from the local government sector, civil society and refugee community. In the third session, we will open the discussions to the floor and would greatly appreciate your active participation.
