The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Dr. Michael E. O’ Hanlon, Director of Research and Senior Fellow,
Foreign Policy, Brookings Institution, to give a lecture on the theme of his new book, "Toughing It Out in Afghanistan,” in Tokyo on December 17, 2010. In his book, which was published in March of this year, Dr. O’ Hanlon explores the current situation in Afghanistan, discussing ongoing efforts to reform Afghan government policy as well as critical strategies in securing the country’s future in areas spanning the military, civic safety, and economic recovery.
In the course of the lecture, Dr. O’Hanlon will provide his vision of the path international society must take in order to address issues related to Afghanistan, and shed light on the Obama administration’s foreign policies and their implications for Japan. Details of the event are as follows:
