The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Mr. Robert D. Kaplan, senior fellow for the Center for the New American Security and national correspondent for Atlantic to speak on the theme of ‘The Indian Ocean and Geopolitics’ on March 12, 2010. The speaker is an eminent international journalist who has written many articles regarding regional conflicts and security issues worldwide.
Mr. Kaplan has discussed issues surrounding the Indian Ocean, such as the increasing presence of China and the resurgence of the geopolitical rivalry in the region, in articles in the distinguished American foreign policy journals, “Foreign Affairs”, and “Foreign Policy.” He will provide insight from a geographical perspective into the present and the future situation of the Indian Ocean region, and show the powerful effects the region exerts on international politics.
