A Lecture by Dr. Peter D. Feaver

Nearly four months have passed since President Barack Obama entered the White House. He promised to tackle the current economic crisis and shift America's strategic focus from Iraq to Afghanistan and Pakistan. With American power said to be subsiding, how does President Obama intend to bring 'change' to US security policy? Will he in fact choose to continue the policies of the Bush administration? The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Dr. Peter D. Feaver, a leading political scientist, to give a special lecture on US security policy and its significance to the rest of the world. Dr. Feaver has written numerous publications on nuclear proliferation, civil-military relations and American foreign policy, and has demonstrated outstanding ability in his capacity as Special Advisor for Strategic Planning and Institutional Reform on the National Security Council Staff in the Bush administration. In the course of the lecture, he will give a sharp analysis of President Obama's 'Grand Strategy'.
