This year marks the 20th anniversary of the end of the Cold War. Northeast Asia has been experiencing a dramatic transition in the post-war period. However the problems posed by North Korea continue to challenge the entire region.
The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Dr. Balbina Hwang, former Senior Special Advisor to Ambassador Christopher Hill, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. State Department under the Bush Administration and lecturer at National Defense University and Georgetown University to provide insight into this "North Korean Problem." In the course of her lecture, Dr. Hwang will shed light on the importance of the cooperation among regional countries including the potential for a multilateral regional organization to emerge in the region.
