The Sasakawa Peace Foundation is pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Jakarta governor-elect Dr. Anies Baswedan. The foundation has been enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening collaboration between Japan and Asian countries through inviting Asian opinion leaders to Japan and engaging them in dialogue with Japanese policy makers, scholars and business leaders.

On July 26, 2017, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will organize a public lecture by Dr. Anies Baswedan, Jakarta governor-elect. He is a distinguished political scientist, and was appointed to the rector of Paramadia University in 2007 as the youngest rector in Indonesia at the age of 38. He served as the Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia from 2014 to 2016 under the Joko Widodo administration. His future success as the governor of Jakarta is now greatly anticipated.

This public lecture will be a great opportunity to listen to Dr. Anies Baswedan about ways in which Jakarta is expected to change under his leadership and new prospects for partnerships between Tokyo and Jakarta as well as between Japan and Indonesia. As a commentator we will welcome Dr. Yuri Sato, the Executive President of the Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization.
We look forward to welcoming all of you at this seminar.
