Social Challenges and Initiatives in the Middle East: With a Journalist from Jordan

Organized by: Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Asia and Middle East Program

The Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) cordially invites you to a public webinar entitled “Social Challenges and Initiatives in the Middle East: With a Journalist from Jordan” featuring Ms. Rana Sweis. As a freelance journalist, Ms. Sweis covers various areas including political, social, and refugee issues in the Middle East region and published a book entitled "Voices of Jordan" in 2018, which introduces the diversity of the nation through the eyes of female parliamentarians, Syrian refugees, jihadists, and others. She also founded Wishbox Media, a company that trains young journalists and provides opportunities for journalists and artists to express themselves.

In this webinar, Ms. Sweis, while introducing her own experiences as a journalist and her activities to foster young journalists, will talk about the challenges faced by young people in Jordan and neighboring countries in the Middle East and some initiatives to overcome these challenges.

Mr. Yusuke Takano of The Asahi Shimbun, who has been reporting in the Middle East for many years, will join in the subsequent comments and discussions.

We look forward to your participation.
