On July 13, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation will host an event to discuss how we should see the Articles of Agreement for AIIB and how Japan should react to it.
The Articles of Agreement for AIIB was signed on 29th June. In Japan, both in public and on the private level, heated debates have held as to whether Japan should join AIIB or not. Concerns over AIIB’s institutional transparency and China’s intentions have centered on the discussion. Should Japan refrain itself from joining the AIIB, or participate it to tackle those problems as an influential member?
Japan has not participated in the AIIB along with the United States, but now the content of the Articles of Agreement for AIIB has been revealed in public. The SPF hosts the panel discussion by inviting experts on finance and China to analyze the Agreement and to consider the possible Japanese policies. We very much welcome all of your attendance.
