  • The proceedings of the lecture by the Ambassador of Israel to Japan ( 303.70KB)

The Israeli army's air and land attack on Gaza that began at the end of last year shocked international society, just as it was about to welcome the arrival of the year 2009. The unilateral ceasefire declared by Israel seems to have ameliorated the situation, but conditions are still volatile, and whether or not the ceasefire can be maintained is an issue of great concern. Furthermore, two questions arise: how could the reconstruction of Gaza district take place, and are there any clues to overcoming the Palestine problem.

Although there is a considerable amount of media coverage of the issue every day, it is still difficult to gain a comprehensive picture. In an effort to shed some light on the situation, the Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited the Ambassador of Israel to Japan, H.E.
