America’s Asia Policy under the New President
Closed.
President Barack Obama faces a range of pressing issues over the coming years, such as the failing economy, the fight against terrorism, climate change, nuclear problems in North Korea, and newly emerging forces like China. The whole world is watching to see how the President will address these grave problems. Obama needs to make clear as early as possible that the U.S.-Japan alliance remains the cornerstone of Washington’s relations with Asia. The Sasakawa Peace Foundation has invited Dr. Robert Hathaway, a leading expert of America’s Asia Policy, to give a special lecture on Obama’s foreign policy regarding Japan and East Asia.
