Project Outline
This project, which has conflict resolution and the establishment of sustainable peace as its goals, will focus on the Deep South of Thailand and the Bangladesh-Myanmar border region as priority areas for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. In the Deep South of Thailand, we aim to create an environment that can support the conclusion of a peace agreement, while in the Bangladesh-Myanmar border region, where we are newly considering our involvement, we will conduct conflict analysis and network-building as we explore the role for the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. In designing our involvement in these conflict regions, we will emphasize each region’s historical, cultural, and social distinctiveness and respect the sense of ownership by the local society, clearly stating this as the approach of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
