Over the past six months, I traveled to Russia, the US, India, Turkey, and China.I always discovered there many kinds of mutual interaction between man and the ocean which are related to the research activities of OPRF, and each always provided me an opportunity to consider issues related to the ocean from various angles.Interactions among these various issues such as the safety of maritime traffic, marine environment, and maritime security are revealed and convey that the world has always been vivid.

Pantropical plants with sea-drifted seeds are distributed across extremely wide areas. The wide distribution areas have been explained largely by their high dispersal ability of seeds. However, there are no empirical data to infer their expansion routes and amount of gene flow via sea-drifted seeds. This article introduces recent molecular approach to provide insight into their evolutionary processes.

The Amamo Revival Collaboration in Kanazawa-Hakkei-Tokyo Bay (a local council for eelgrass restoration) was formally inaugurated in June 2003. We are aiming at improving the water quality of Tokyo Bay through cooperation.There seem to be a growing number of participants every time we have an event. Public empathy to bring Tokyo Bay closer to the people is contagious.These activities we are engaged in the local area of the Tokyo Bay are in harmony with the aim for improvement of global marine environment.
