Project Outline
There is an urgent need for economic rebuilding and regional stabilization in Central Sulawesi in Eastern Indonesia following the earthquake five years ago. However, despite substantial support from government bodies and other organizations, the rebuilding effort has been hampered by a lack of coordination and many aspects of the reconstruction process are considered fundamentally unsustainable.
This project is designed to stimulate inclusive and sustainable regional economic activity focusing on businesses as part of the Social and Solidarity Economy, particularly in terms of support for female entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs in vulnerable positions. The aim is to develop a novel reconstruction model for disaster-affected and impoverished regions to present to the Indonesian government as well as other Southeast Asian and ASEAN nations. We will begin with a one-year period of preliminary preparations including feasibility studies.
