The sea lion hunters petition for an authorization to operate in Takeshima

Nakai Yozaburo, Kato Shigezo, Iguchi Ryuta and Hashioka Tomojiro (other operators were initially included), petitioned the Shimane Prefectural Governor on May 20 of 1905 for authorization to hunt sea lion on Takeshima and its surroundings between June of 1905 to May of 1908. (Ref. 1) Similar records exist for 1908-1911, 1911-1916, and 1916-1921. Nakai Yozaburo, Kato Shigezo, and Hashioka Tomojiro are recorded as the petitioners applying for authorization for the periods beginning in 1908 and 1911, whereas Nakai Yoichi, Hashioka Tadashige and Kato Shigezo are recorded as the petitioners for authorization for the years 1916-1921.
