The Governor of Shimane Prefecture publicly announces that the islands are named Takeshima and the jurisdiction under which they will be governed (Prefectural Notice No. 40)

Given the cabinet decision to incorporate Takeshima on January 28 of 1905, Home Affairs Minister Yoshikawa Akimasa instructed Shimane Governor Matsunaga Takekichi in a correspondence dated February 15, 1905 to announce that the islands located at 37° 9’ 30” N and 131° 55’ E, 85 NM NW of the Oki Islands, shall be named Takeshima. Moreover, Takeshima appertains to Shimane Prefecture and falls under the jurisdiction of the Oki Islands Magistrate. (Ref.1)

In accordance with these instructions, the Governor of Shimane Prefecture issued Prefectural Notice No. 40 on February 22 of 1905 which promulgated the name and jurisdiction of Takeshima. (Ref.2)

The governor also issued Shimane Prefecture General Affairs No.11 on the same day, informing the Oki Islands Branch Office as well of the name and jurisdiction of Takeshima. (Ref.3)
