Japanese authorities decide to reinforce control over poaching on and around Takeshima, after “Shimane-Maru’s survey

The Japanese Coast Guard consulted with other concerned Japanese ministries and agencies after it was discovered by the Shimane Prefecture Fisheries Research Institute’s Shimane-Maru (see entries “May 28, 1953” above) that Korean fishermen were making landfall on Takeshima. Consequently, the coast guard decided on June 17 of 1953 that it would “reinforce a control over on poaching in waters surrounding Takeshima.” (Ref.1)
