Shimane Prefecture’s Fisheries Control Regulations are revised to permit sea lion hunters to gather edible seaweeds such as laver and wakame

The prefectural government revised the Shimane Prefecture Fisheries Control Regulations (Shimane Prefectural Ordinance No. 54 of 1911) on April 1 of 1921 with Shimane Prefectural Ordinance No. 21. This ordinance permitted sea lion hunters to gather other sea life such as edible seaweeds and shellfish within a designated area surrounding Takeshima. (Ref.1)
