The Kazan (Volcano) Islands was placed under the jurisdiction of Ogasawara Island Branch Office, formally becoming part of Japanese territory.
By Imperial edict the Kazan Islands (Iwo Islands) came under the Ogasawara Island Branch Office, formally becoming part of Japanese territory. The three constituent islands of the group were also indicated: Iwo Jima being the island in the center, Minami Iwo Jima being the southern island and Kita Iwo Jima the northern island. (Ref.1)
