Parry’s and Kater islands were renamed to Mukojima and Yomejima, and came under the administration of Ogasawara (Mukojima Island Group)
On October 17, 1876, Foreign Minister Terashima Munenori notified the following 12 countries about its administration over the Ogasawara Islands: United Kingdom, Italy, United States of America, The Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Russia, Peru, Spain, France, and Germany. The notification was not a declaration of the new possession of territory, but rather a confirmation of the long-standing status of the territory as a part of Japan. (Ref. 1)
