Amane KOBAYASHI, Ph.D. is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ). His expertise includes politics and security of the Middle East and North Africa focusing on Libya and energy geopolitics in the region. From 2021 to 2023, He worked as the Deputy Head of Mission at Japan's Embassy in Libya. He has previously served the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the U.S., and Keio University, Japan. He also worked for the post-conflict development of Libya with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from 2013 to 2014. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Media and Governance, and B.A. in Policy Management at Keio University, Japan. He was a Research Fellow at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
