Exchange Program between Vietnam and Japan at the Local Level

Project contents
Seeking to strengthen the relationship between Japan and Vietnam, this project aims to transfer some of the responsibility for exchange activities to the nonprofit sector and local governments. Specifically, it provides a platform for local civic groups and government officials in Japan and Vietnam to exchange ideas on regional development by supporting two grant projects.
In fiscal 2007, exchange activities like site visits, seminars, and workshops were held in both countries. By supporting a series of activities, this project helped to promote multitiered exchange among a diverse range of people, including local government officials, participants of civic groups, and experts in related fields. This project has led to various initiatives, including the start of trainee acceptance into Japan from selected regions of Vietnam and the exchange of a memorandum of understanding to foster cooperation between the city of Da Lat in Vietnam and the town of Fujikawaguchiko in Japan.
