Graduated Japan Coast Guard Academy on 1999, Mr. Takeshi Mizunari worked for Japan Coast Guard as Navigational Officer on vessels and Officer on land. He has an experience to get onboard Icebreaker. After resigned on 2013, he joined The Japan Association of Marine Safety from 2014, and took responsibility on prevent environmental disaster from ships. He also compiled Environmental Sensitivity Index Maps during this time. He left the Association on 2018, then joined OPRI from April 2019.
He was a project officer for World Maritime University Sasakawa Fellowship Program, which bring MSc Program for public servants in (mainly) developing countries, but utilizing his previous experience he was also involved in MDA issues etc. in OPRI.
He was born in Niigata, but had house-moving so many times both before and after graduation because of his and his parents’ duty. His parent worked for maritime industry, so his interests for marine/maritime issues were developed during then.
He also has a license as a scuba diving instructor (PADI OWSI) and loves travel.
