Yusuke Honda
Yusuke Honda was research fellow of OPRI. He has range of experiences in the field of international law as a practitioner as well as an academic. His current research interests fall within the law of the sea, particularly the concept of the freedom of the high seas and the common heritage of mankind in the contemporary law of the sea. In OPRI, he is mainly involved in the Arctic Policy project, and providing analysis and advice to the other projects from the law of the sea perspectives broadly. Before (re)joining OPRI, he worked for various ministries and agencies for more than a decade in total, including the Ministry of the Environment (2009-2011), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2011-2013, 2016), Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (2013-2016), and Polar Cooperation Research Centre of Kobe University (2018-2020), having previously held the position in OPRI (2016-2018). He also participated in various treaty negotiations including the Nagoya Protocol on ABS and the BBNJ as a member of the Japanese delegation.
